When it comes to conference rooms, bars and lounges, theatres, village halls, amusement arcades, children's play areas, cinemas and any similar location, keeping a welcoming, fresh environment is a seemingly never ending and uphill battle.
Keeping larger areas clear of odours means dealing with a very specific set of problems, and every environment is unique in terms of odours and virus issues. A gym will have sweat and touch point virus spread problems, an amusement arcade will have spilled food and drink issues, a conference room will have coffee and stale food smells and so on.
So, taking a common example of the theatre bar combination in a UK holiday park as our scenario, let's look at why they still tend to get a bit whiffy sometimes despite the best efforts of the team.
Entertainment facilities on holiday parks are a great example of the odour problems large spaces can face because they often serve a high turnover of guests throughout the day and night. The constant movement of people, combined with the presence of food residues, spilled drinks, perfumes, sweat and (this is the UK after all) damp clothing, creates a perfect environment for lingering odours. Some facilities were also constructed some time ago and now have ventilation and circulation issues. High-capacity use can cause smells to stagnate and build up, particularly in corners and less-trafficked areas. Spillages under tables and seating will also hang around, creating odours that are hidden until they are disturbed when used. Not to mention the odours that emanate from overused toilets!
The bottom line is that the carpets, upholstery, and other soft furnishings commonly used in these venues can trap odours over time. Constant deep cleaning helps, but it is expensive and often not practical. Add in the unpredictable nature of spills and accidents, such as dropped food, beer, or even sick children and partying adults who had one too many, and maintaining a fresh-smelling environment becomes an ongoing, uphill battle.
The result of all this is that you clean and clean again, but there seems to be no way to prevent a guest sitting down at a table and getting a nasty whiff of something unpleasant from a deeply ingrained odour.
Keeping these kinds of areas free from odours is clearly a nightmare scenario, but that doesn’t stop the guests from complaining on TripAdvisor. It seems like a no-win scenario.
How we responded to the problem
Talking to our clients and looking for ways to resolve the issues they faced has always been the way we work. After visiting several clients with larger areas to clean, it became clear to us that there was a specific need for a much more powerful ozone machine. We already had the Eclipse Pro range to deal with odours in areas such as resident rooms in care homes, caravans and lodges, hotel rooms and so on, so the obvious choice was to build a bigger, more powerful version of that machine.
A few months of research, building, testing, rebuilding and some pretty complex technical magic, and the Eclipse Pro Max was ready for action.
The Power of Ozone
Ozone (O₃) reacts with contaminants in the air and on surfaces, neutralising odours and helping to eradicate viruses, bacteria, and mould spores. It is effective against viruses such as norovirus and ozone sanitation can significantly reduce infection risks in environments that are frequently used by large numbers of people.
Of course, from the venue perspective, the main benefit of using ozone is that it is capable of removing and destroying lingering odours, leaving clean, fresh smelling, air behind.
Efficient After-Hours Cleaning
One major advantage of the Eclipse Pro Max is its ease of use. It requires no chemicals and is easy to set up, being mostly plug-and-play. That means once the premises are closed for the evening, the Eclipse Pro Max can be activated and left to ozonate the room unattended. Once it has cleared the odours, the unique destruct system will then kick in and clear any residual ozone. By morning, the Eclipse Pro Max will have done its job and created a fresh-smelling and odour-free environment that is ready for immediate use. All the team need to do is remove the machine before opening to the public.
It's literally that easy to use. Overnight, in a closed, locked room, with no specialist equipment or chemicals needed, an Eclipse Pro Max will remove offensive smells and also significantly reduce airborne and surface pathogens such as norovirus.
Cost Savings come as a standard feature as well!
Despite regular daily cleaning, odours still develop and hide in the carpets, curtains and soft furnishings. Frustratingly, that means although the room is actually clean, because housekeeping has done a great job as usual, it can still smell bad. Customers will then think the room is not clean, even though it is, and that's when the complaints start. In these circumstances, the common response would be to try a traditional deep clean to get rid of stubborn odours such as vomit or spilled alcohol. That can generate costs running into hundreds of pounds, and you may still not resolve the problem.
In short, a deep clean is costly and may not actually help because the issue isn’t about clean rooms, it is about the odour trapped in the furnishings.
By contrast, using an Eclipse Pro Max is far more cost-efficient. Once the main source of an odour is cleaned up, the Eclipse Pro Max can be deployed to deal with the remaining odour in a far more cost-effective way. Operating the device just once a week over its initial two-year warranty period will cost approximately £18 to £20 per use, a significant saving compared to repeated, inefficient deep cleaning procedures.
Enhancing the customer experience
In addition to cost savings, ozone generators help create a much better experience for your guests. From our unique Plugin and Aura devices, which can be deployed for constant use in populated areas, through to the Eclipse Pro range for use in empty rooms, they will improve air quality and customer comfort. By using ozone to eliminating unpleasant odours you are providing a fresher, often safer, environment and that will create a more inviting atmosphere. Clean, fresh-smelling rooms will encourage repeat visits and foster customer loyalty.
The Eclipse Pro Max offers an easy to use, chemical free, fast, efficient, and economical solution for large public venues. Not only does it dramatically reduce costs, but it also enhances customer satisfaction by maintaining a consistently fresh and clean smelling environment. Hundreds of our clients in the leisure, hospitality, care, and holiday park sectors have found that adopting ozone-based odour control is a decision that pays dividends in both customer satisfaction and bottom-line savings.
